Registration

The registration takes place from September 2024 to December 2024 on this website.

No. Firstly the places are limited and secondly can’t we print your congratulatory letter without registration.

If all places have already been allocated or the congratulatory letters have already been printed, it is not possible to register at a later date. Otherwise the Student Lifecycle Management will decide.

Yes, due to the space available, we have to limit the number of participants for capacity reasons. The rule “first come, first serve” applies to registration.

Of course this is possible and even wished for. If you are unable to attend, please send an email to the Student Lifecycle Management in good time so that your places can be made available for those wishing to move up. If you are unable to attend at short notice, please let us know by email so that we can put your letter of congratulations aside and guarantee that the award ceremony runs smoothly.

Participation requirements

Please only register if you have passed all examinations, including your thesis, by the date of the graduation ceremony. This means that the thesis must be submitted and any required final presentations must have been given. Of course you should make sure, that your thesis is graded with a pass mark.

You do not need a certificate to participate. As long as you have passed all examinations, including the final thesis, by the date of the ceremony, you can take part.

Yes, only congratulatory letters are presented at the ceremony, not official certificates.

You can take part in the ceremony once if you have graduated within one year before the date of the ceremony. Exceptions can only be permitted if justified. Please contact the Student Lifecycle Management in that case.

Accompaniment

For capacity reasons, a maximum of 2 accompanying persons are possible. In order to enable as many of you as possible to participate, we ask you to make a careful selection. The maximum number does not have to be exhausted! Only registered companions are allowed.

If you wish to change the number of accompanying persons after registration, please send an email to Student Lifecycle Management. Please note that it is only possible to increase the number of accompanying persons if places are available and that you can bring a maximum of 2 people. Please also let us know if an accompanying person is unable to attend, as this can free up places.

Unfortunately, this is not possible for organizational reasons. The graduates sit in the seats marked with their degree courses at the front. Accompanying persons sit in the remaining seats. Seats are allocated on a first come, first serve basis. There will be one seat for each registered person, contiguous seats cannot be guaranteed or reserved. Please only bring people you have specified when registering!

Ceremony and champagne reception

You will receive a letter of congratulations during the ceremony. You will receive the official graduation documents from the Examinations Office.

Please dress according to the occasion. We would be particularly pleased if you would take the opportunity to borrow a gown from Robe Academicus with the code erlangen.

A photo will be taken of you when the letter of congratulations is handed over. This will be made available to you free of charge afterwards. You also have the opportunity to have your photo taken with family and friends during the reception by registering in the FAU Community. This service is organized by FAU Alumni Management.

There will be non-alcoholic sparkling wine as well as other non-alcoholic drinks.

There will be no food. The time of the event has been specially chosen so that you can go to dinner with your companions afterwards. Please remember to reserve a table!

No. Once you have received the confirmation email, you are registered for the event. You do not need to bring it with you on the day of the event or register on site.

No. Both the ceremony and the reception are free of charge for you and your companions. Costs are only incurred for borrowing a gown.
